The Friends of Awenda Park

AWENDA INSPIRED!

AWENDA INSPIRED! is back!

Join us on September 24, 2022 as the Friends of Awenda Park welcome students from the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) University to Awenda Provincial Park.

Students, Professors, and Alumni are following in the footsteps of numerous artists who have visited Awenda and the surrounding southern Georgian Bay area. Awenda has long since been a source of inspiration for upcoming and iconic Canadian artists such as Tom Thomson, who painted the park’s Giant Tomb Island not once, but a record three times!

Painting and drawing en plein air, students will spend the day out in the park creating their own Awenda Inspired! masterpiece. Afterwards, join us at the end of the day at the park’s Trail & Activity Centre for an informal viewing of their work in progress. A formal exhibition of the day’s work will be displayed at OCAD’s Ada Slaight Gallery in Toronto at a later date (TBA).
