Awenda’s biological diversity is strongly influenced by the presence of various wetland communities, an inland lake as well as the larger Georgian Bay shore.
Wetlands, like Kettle’s Lake Marsh, play an important role as habitat for various plants, water fowl, semi-aquatic mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and countless insects.
